FPSO implements check points

To send a message of discouragement to potential drug traffickers traveling through Franklin Parish, Sheriff Kevin Cobb and his team of investigators and deputies have been posting narcotics check points in various locations.

Parish residents traveling north of Baskin on New Year's Eve may have been surprised by the FPSO sign indicating the checkpoint ahead on La. Hwy. 15.

Cobb said his department had assisted officers in other parishes with narcotics checkpoints in the past, but the FPSO had not performed an in-parish check in many years.
