Officers charged in late night hunting spree

Two Winnsboro Police Department officers and a Franklin Parish Sheriff's Office deputy were fired last week for their role in an alleged incident involving the illegal killing of a deer.

Winnsboro Police Chief Lester Thomas said officials with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries contacted him last week concerning an incident which occurred on Sunday night, Dec. 30, at the Winnsboro Industrial Park north of town.
