All the Web's a stage

Self-admiration seems to be a central tenet of American culture these days, and no other stage has been more perfectly set for this display than Facebook, a virtual society with a set of social values quite different from those of the outside world.

Studies indicate today's sense of community has become less personal to the point of apathy. As we fall to the lure of our electronics rather than participating in actual human social situations, we seem to care less about the well-being of others.
