Corn producers get spring jump

A relatively mild winter in Northeast Louisiana enabled many local corn farmers to get a head start on the 2012 crop.

Although recent wet weather caused a slight delay for some farmers, LSU AgCenter reported last week that about 35 percent of the state's corn crop is already in the ground.
