TOWN OF WISNER
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
APRIL 8, 2010
The Town Council of Wisner met in regular session on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. at the Wisner Town Hall.
Present: Mayor Allyn Jean Luckett, Nettie B. Brown, Thomas Moore, and Mike Caldwell.
Absent: Thomas Lemle and Marc McCarty.
Also present: Town Clerk, Police Chief and guests.
There being a quorum Mayor Luckett called the meeting proceedings to order.
The invocation was led by Mike Caldwell.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Nettie B. Brown.
Motion by Nettie B. Brown to approve minutes from previous meeting.
Mike Caldwell seconded. Minutes approved.
The financial reports and expenditures were provided for the month of March. Mike Caldwell made a motion to approve the financial reports. Thomas Moore seconded. Permission granted to pay all bills.
NEW BUSINESS:
Mayor Luckett read a letter from Doyle Robinson awarding the police department $28,000.00 for a new police vehicle and equipment.
The council was reminded to register for the LMA conference to be held August 5-8, 2010.
The Mayor advised of an additional $337,000.00 to go along with the LCDBG funding for the community center project.
Council was informed that the water system improvement project is still underway.
POLICE DEPARTMENT:
Chief Cureington informed council that officers hours have been cut back and he would like to have two officers as reserve officers. Thomas Moore seconded. Motion carried.
MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT:
Bobby Rushing gave report that he has been cutting grass around town and repairing some of the streets.
FIRE DEPT.:
Chief Delaughter informed council that a fire truck was down and it was going to cost approximately $1200.00 to repair.
Motion by Thomas Moore to get the fire truck repaired. Seconded by Mike Caldwell. Motion carried.
With no further business Nettie B. Brown made a motion to adjourn. Seconded by Thomas Moore.

VILLAGE OF BASKIN
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
MAY 11, 2010
The Mayor and the Council of the Village of Baskin met in a regular session on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at 5 p.m. at the Village of Baskin Town Hall.
Present: Mayor Billy Joe Cupp and Council members Wanda Carroll, Larry LaBorde and Mike Ballard.
Also present: Town Clerk and guests.
There being a quorum, the meeting was called to order.
The pledge of allegiance and prayer was led by Mayor Billy Joe Cupp.
The Clerk read minutes from the previous council meeting.
Mike Ballard made a motion to accept the minutes as read. Wanda Carroll seconded. Yeas: 3; Nays 0; Absent 0.
NEW BUSINESS:
Permission was granted to pay all bills. Larry LaBorde made a motion. Mike Ballard seconded. Yeas: 3; Nays 0; Absent 0.
Mayor Cupp introduced Budget Ordinance #05/01 (10) F.Y. 2010-2011 and presented the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2010-2011. Both will be voted on at the next council meeting, June 8, 2010.
OLD BUSINESS:
It was reported that the copier has been delivered.
POLICE DEPARTMENT:
Chief Barber announced that applications will be received through Friday, May 14, 2010.
FIRE DEPARTMENT:
Chief Fife reported that several of the volunteer firefighters have committed to the training required for Fireman 1. The classes continue for sixteen weeks, ending in October. The Fire Department had Open House on May 1, 2010 and had about 70 guests. The next LSU training class will meet on May 13, at Winnsboro. Other scheduled meeting will be on May 24, May 26 and May 31, 2010.
OTHER BUSINESS:
No action.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 5:30 p.m. Mike Ballard made a motion. Wanda Carroll seconded. Yeas: 3; Nays 0; Absent 0.

The Franklin Parish Council on Aging is currently in the process of up-dating its membership. If you would like to become a volunteer member of the Council, please stop by our office at 714 Adams Street, Winnsboro, and complete a membership card.
A card must be on file at the Council’s office no later than June 7, 2010. You must be a resident of Franklin Parish and interested in the concerns and needs of the elderly. The next annual meeting is to be held Monday, June 21, 2010.
