NOTICE
Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with L.R.S. 3:1609 and LAC 7:XV.314(A), the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry, Louisiana Boll Weevil Eradication Commission, has established a boll weevil eradication zone, the Louisiana Eradication Zone, consisting of all the territory within the state of Louisiana.
Notice is further given that all producers of commercial cotton in Louisiana are required to participate in the boll weevil eradication program, including cost sharing, in accordance with the Boll Weevil Eradication Law and regulations. This includes, but is not limited to, reporting of cotton acreage and paying of assessments each crop year, and destruction of cotton plants and stalks by December 31 of each crop year. A copy of the law and rules and regulations may be obtained from the Boll Weevil Eradication Commission, P.O. Box 3596, Baton Rouge, LA 70821-3596, telephone number (225) 952-8105.
Notice is also given that the planting of noncommercial cotton is PROHIBITED in Louisiana unless a written waiver is obtained from the Commissioner of Agriculture & Forestry in accordance with LAC 7:XV.319(C). To request a waiver, submit a written application to the Department of Agriculture and Forestry, at the address provided in this notice, stating the conditions under which such written waiver is requested.

CALL TO ORDER
The Board of Aldermen of the City of Winnsboro, Louisiana, met in a special called meeting on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Winnsboro City Hall, 3814 Front Street, Winnsboro, Louisiana, with Mayor Pro Tem Rex McCarthy presiding.
Aldermen present: Richard Mahoney, John Dumas, Betty Johnson, Craig Gill, Rex McCarthy
Absent: None
A motion was made by Craig Gill, seconded by Betty Johnson, and unanimously approved to appoint Richard Mahoney to preside over the special called meeting.
John Dumas, District 2 Alderman, presented the Board with his letter of resignation, effective immediately, for the remainder of his term which ends on June 30, 2010. A Motion was made by Craig Gill, second by Rex McCarthy, and unanimously approved to accept this resignation. City Attorney Tab Singer reminded the Board they will now have 10 days to appoint a person for the vacant District 2 Alderman seat.
APPOINTMENT OF MAYOR:
Craig Gill commended Mayor Pro Tem Rex McCarthy on an excellent job while Mayor Hammons had been sick. Based on experience, tenure, knowledge of municipal law and the current projects that are ongoing in the City of Winnsboro, Gill made a motion to appoint John Dumas to complete Mayor Hammons term which will end on June 30, 2010. This motion was seconded by Rex McCarthy and unanimously approved.

The Mayor and the Council of the Village of Baskin met in a regular session on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at 5:00 p.m. at the Village of Baskin Town Hall.
Present: Mayor Billy Joe Cupp and Council members Wanda Carroll, Larry LaBorde and Mike Ballard.
Also present: Town Clerk and guests.
There being a quorum, the meeting was called to order.

Chief Fife reported that an LSU training class will be held at the Winnsboro Fire Department on Thursday, March 11, 2010. He and the volunteer fire fighters continue to attend two training sessions each month. He reported one structural fire this month.
