RECOGNITION OF FPHS POWER LIFTERS Coach Barry Sebren recognized two of his power lifters for placing 1st in the state in their division. Al’Derrius McCarthy, 9th grade placed 1st in 165 lb. class division and Stanley Lee, 9th grade placed 1st in the 181 lb. class division. Coach Sebren also recognized the Joseph Purvis, coach of the power lifting team. Both young men are exceptional student athletes. SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT Superintendent Lanny Johnson reported on the progress of HGWLC after the fire. We are trying to get students back to school as soon as possible. There are approximately 147 students that attend HGWLC. Partitions are being built in the gym to make 10 classrooms. Cafeteria can be used. Gas and water to the building has been a problem. Bo Davis has done all the electrical for the school. Ouachita Parish has sent up teacher desks, teacher chairs, student desk and partitions. We are going to pay for the student desk but not very much. We are trying to get the students back in school Thursday. Some of the students were tested this morning. ILEAP test will be given after the holidays. An insurance adjuster has visited the site. We will get so much per square foot plus architect fees. We will have to look at the money and decide how to go back with the building. Our people have worked very hard. PRESIDENT’S REPORT President Eddie Ray Bryan reported on the fire at HGW Learning Center. He was out there the night of the fire. The fire was intense. Fire fighters from all over the parish and Richland Parish responded. The fire fighters did a very good of keeping it contained. President Bryan said the juveniles that did this went in to burn building. President Bryan mentioned the 25 years of experience at age 55 retirement.
