posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
A Franklin Parish man was one of five U.S. soldiers killed in a helicopter crash in southern Afghanistan Monday according to reports.

Warrant Officer Bryan Henderson, 27, was on board the UH-60 Black Hawk when it went down outside Kandahar city, the capital of Kandahar province, shortly before 10 p.m. local time.

The NATO military coalition said in a statement that initial reports showed no enemy activity in the area at the time. The cause of the crash is under investigation, the statement said.

Henderson had previously served a tour as a pilot in Iraq before deployment to Afghanistan.

No further information has been made available at this time.
