Patriots fill up all-district team
by Matt Reynolds - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
After five fantastic state championship games at the LHSAA Prep Classic over the weekend, another year of prep pigskin and all its glory is now in the bag.

The biggest story in New Orleans might have been Class 5A Rummel winning its first championship in school history.

Class 2A John Curtis won its unbelievable 25th state title, finishing undefeated for yet another year.

Neville unfortunately ran into a buzz saw that had a bad taste in its mouth in Karr, who had lost to Neville in last year's Class 4A showdown.

The Monroe community can rally around OCS though after its 1A title, the school's second in as many seasons.

And Baton Rouge was well represented by Parkview Baptist and its dominating 42-7 win in 3A over Notre Dame.

Now the games are in the books the accolades and honors will start to roll in. The first to come this week came in the announcement of the 2-4A all-district team, in which Franklin Parish had its highest representation yet.

The all-district teams are voted on by the coaches of District 2-4A.

The Patriots (9-3), who finished second in the district and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class 4A playoffs this year, landed 21 total players on this season's all-district team. FP had 13 players on the first and second teams, while eight more Patriots earned honorable mention, a solid accomplishment in district that holds claim to five of the last eight Class 4A titles.
