Yocum to run NYC Marathon

A Franklin Parish native is currently in training for one of the most prominent running events in the world.

Trebor Yocum, a 1998 graduate of Crowville High School, will be competing in the ING New York City Marathon as a member of Team for Kids – a youth service group started by the New York City Road Runners.

Yocum, who currently is employed as a production planner with a Boeing partner company near Seattle, said he is hard at work preparing for grueling 26.2 mile run set on Nov. 4 through the five boroughs of New York City.

"I just finished my first trial run of the year for the marathon and it was exhilarating," Yocum said. "Since January of last year I have run a total of 40 5Ks. I also ran four 10Ks and two half-marathons (13.1 miles)."
