Fifth grade Bible students at Family Community Christian School (FCCS) raised $261.50 for Gideons International as a community service project. Judge E. Rudolph McIntyre, a member of the local chapter of Gideons International, accepted the funds on behalf of the organization at a special meeting on March 16, 2013. At the donation ceremony, Judge McIntyre gave a brief presentation about the Gideons and led a question and answer session with the students.

They honorees were presented during the 25th annual banquet sponsored by the Black Heritage Organization. The event was held on Feb. 22, 2013, in the Franklin Parish High School cafeteria at 7 p.m.
The honorees were introduced by Evelyn Rose Richardson and trophies were presented by Mabel Lawrence Thomas, president of the organization. Upon their enrollment in a college of their choice, each will receive a scholarship from the organization.
