Trout Fishing to perform at Princess Theatre The Arkansas-based folk duo of Trout Fishing in America will be performing at the Princess Theatre on Saturday, May 17 at 7 p.m.
The concert will mark the forth in the annual series events. Tickets are available by series membership or $15 for ages 12 and up while ages 11 and under is $10. In conjunction with the performance the duo will also be doing a 2 day workshop for the 21st Century after school program. Princess executive director Gene Thompson said he is very excited about the show. "We've been working on this for sometime now, and with the help of not only the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council but the 21st Century program we were able to get this Grammy nominated team to come to Winnsboro. Anne Holcomb, and DeLayne Donnell, of the Franklin Parish School Board and the 21st Century team, worked hard to make this happen. We're very lucky to have these wonderful ladies in our community." The duo will have 2 two day workshops on Thursday and Friday topped off by the concert on Saturday the 17th.
Trout Fishing in America, the name taken from a Richard Brautigan novel, seems almost as intriguing as a picture of this musical duo ñ Ezra Idlet (guitar) stands six feet nine inches and Keith Grimwood (bass), five feet five and one half inches. What is more intriguing is the musical career these two have carved out in nearly three decades of writing, recording and performing together. On the heels of their third Grammy nomination (My Best Day, a 2006 live concert recording), it is no wonder that they the see the future as the brightest part of their career. With family-oriented, tongue-in-cheek songs, Trout Fishing's concerts have been hailed as some of the most wholesome and fun evenings you'll spend.
Programs of the Princess Theatre are supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council as administered by the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council.
