Dorothy E. Bacle
Funeral services for Dorothy E. Bacle, 90, of Winnsboro were held Friday, April 18, 2008 from the chapel of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro with Rev. Paul Perry and Rev. Hillary Dixon officiating. Interment followed at Harris Cemetery in Crowville.
Mrs. Bacle was born March 15, 1918 to William and Ida Smith Dixon in Gilbert and she passed from this life on Tuesday, April 15, 2008.
She was a member of the Lone Pine Baptist Church and she loved to quilt. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Henry Thomas Bacle.
She is survived by four children: Claudine Strickland of Gilbert; W.T. Bacle of Bossier City; Garry Bacle of Haughton; Linda Ezell of Haughton; two brothers: Rev. Hillary Dixon of Brookhaven, Miss.; Kenneth Emfinger of Olla; eight grandchildren; nine great-grand children; one great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers were Kevin Bacle, Jerry Paylor, Caleb Strickland, Randy Bacle, Ronnie Strickland, and Seth Strickland.
Honorary pallbearers were David Attaway and Randy Bacle.

Tommy Fletcher
Graveside services for Tommy Fletcher, 71 of Eros, LA, will be held Friday 2 p.m. at Amity Cemetery near Hebert with Rev. Greg Clark officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mr. Fletcher was born Dec. 20, 1936 to Frank and Minnie Ashley Fletcher in Rayville, La., and he passed from this life on Sunday, April 20, 2008 at Louisiana Extended Care in West Monroe.
He was a retired draftsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of the Cedar Crest Baptist Church and he loved to tell jokes. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Randall Fletcher.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years: Irene Fletcher; four children: Mark Edward Fletcher of Savannah, Ga.; Ruby Fletcher Williams of Branson, Mo.; Cindy Fletcher Moyer and Tammy Renee Fletcher, both of West Monroe; two brothers: Don Fletcher and David Fletcher; one sister: Linda Salsbury; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jordan Fletcher, Mark Fletcher, Matt Fletcher, Sean Lambert, Corey Williams, and Gary Williams.

Pearl Eldridge Hughes
Funeral services for Pearl Eldridge Hughes, 94, of Hendersonville, Tenn., formerly of Crowville, are incomplete, under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home, Winnsboro.
Mrs. Hughes died Monday, April 21, 2008.

Harvey L. Laird
Mr. Harvey L. Laird, 74, retired from U.S. Air Force and retired from Temple Co., resident of Kirbyville, Texas, formerly of Chase, La., died Monday, April 21, 2008 at his residence.
Visitation will be Friday, April 25, 2008 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home, Winnsboro.
Funeral service will be Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home, Winnsboro.
Interment with full military honors will follow at Chase Cemetery, Chase, La., under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home, Winnsboro.

John T. Pierce
Services for John T. Pierce, age 77, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Crowville, were held Thursday, April 17, 2008 in the Chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro with Rev. Marion Collier officiating. Interment followed in Crowville Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro.
Mr. Pierce was born in Crowville, and was raised in Franklin Parish, moving to the Delhi area in the 1950's working as a farmer. He moved to the Houston area in the late 1950's and was employed building metalic steel buildings, retiring after 25 to 30 years. He was preceded in death by wives: Madge Parker Pierce, and Shirley Driggers Pierce; son: Mark Anthony Pierce, brothers: Andrew, Artislee, Sammy, H.P. and Lynn Pierce.
Survivors include son: Paul Pierce and wife, Kaylen of New Caney, Texas; granddaughters: Christina Wheeler and husband, Wes of New Caney; Jennifer Dean and husband, Bo of Maui, Hawaii; Melissa Pierce of New Caney; Samantha Pierce and Tabitha Pierce, both of Kingwood, Texas; great-grandchildren: Callie Wheeler, Judson Dean, Cheyenne Wheeler, Cierra Wheeler and Brielle Dean; daughter-in-law: Laronda Pierce; sister: Violet Pierce Schuff of New Orleans; brother: Dock Miller Pierce of Crowville.
Pallbearers were Wes Wheeler, Carl Parker, Wayne Parker, Kevin Parker, Coty Rawls, and Sammy Reynolds.

Hazel Mae Polk
Funeral services for Hazel Mae Polk, 77, of Winnsboro, were held at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, April 18, 2008, with Rev. George Bonner officiating. Intermen followed at New Zion Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mrs. Polk was born Aug. 30, 1930 in Winnsboro, and passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at St. Francis Medical Center Monroe. She was a resident of Winnsboro, a homemaker, a former owner of Delta Queen Drive-In, and a member of the New Zion Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband-Denson Ray Polk; father-Abner Alexander Hitt; mother-Clara Mae (McKenzie) Hitt; daughter-Sandra Gayle Long.
Survivors include a daughter, Lori (Polk) Browning, Winnsboro; step-son, Don Michael Polk of Arlington, Texas; brother, Edward Earl Hitt, Bloomdale, NM.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Joseph Polk, Michael Browning, Donald W. Shipley, Jerry Hill, Charles Hunter, and Michael Durr.

Rosie Watson-Williams
Funeral services for Rosie Watson-Williams, 90, of Winnsboro will be held Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 1 p.m. at River of Life Church in Winnsboro with the Rev. E.J. McFarland officiating.
Burial will follow at Hope Estate Cemetery in Wisner under the direction of Richardson and Sims Funeral Home, Winnsboro.
Mrs. Williams died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Franklin Medical Center.
Wake service will be Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include two sons, Willie Williams, Zachary; Leo Williams, Winnsboro; two daughters, Luemender McMahon and Marie Henderson, both of Winnsboro; one sister, Victoria Grant, Winnsboro; 46 grandchildren; 110 great-grandchildren; 85 great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Bell, Joe Henderson, Eddie McMahon, Kenneth Webb, Leo Williams Jr., Varando Bucker, and Charles Williams.
