Williamson free on bond after shooting

A local man is free on bond after his arrest following a domestic dispute.

Larry Williamson, 27, of Winnsboro, was released Monday morning after posting $100,000 bond.

Williamson was arrested April 15 by Franklin Parish Sheriff's Deputies after a 911 call reporting a shooting at 198 Twiner Road.

Deputies took William-son into custody without incident, according to law enforcement.

Franklin chief deputy Kevin Cobb said the matter appeared to be a domestic dispute that escalated.

Cobb said multiple witnesses at the scene reported Williamson struck his wife and then fired a gun.

"By the time deputies arrive, the gun had been replaced inside the residence," Cobb said.

Williamson was booked into Franklin Correctional Center on charges including simple battery, domestic abuse, and attempted second degree murder.

Cobb said the matter has been referred to the district attorney's office for prosecution.

Williamson had no previous criminal history, according to Cobb.
