Cougars tops in tennsi

The Franklin Academy tennis team wrapped up the regular season undefeated, 10-0.

Since there is no district district tournament for the tennis team, they will immediately advance to to the South State play-offs.

"We don't have a district game, but with our record I think we'd be okay saying we are the district champions," said coach Lisa Kiper.

The state play-off will be in Natchez, Miss., on April 29 and 30. Depending upon the outcome of those matches, the team may be headed to the state finals in Jackson, Miss., on May 7.

"We have a strong, versatile group of players," said Kiper. "I believe they will make a good showing in Natchez and go on to state."

Cougar tennis has an impressive group of young tennis players, which coach Kiper predicts will continue to improve.

"They are contantly working on their skills," she said.
