Mangham slips to OCS Saturday, in a matchup against the #1 ranked team in 1A, Mangham (22-8) lost an 8 inning game by the final score of 6-5 to OCS of Monroe.
After squandering a bases loaded and no out opportunity in the top of the 8th, Mangham gave up the game-winning run on a bases loaded hit batter.
Alan Williams (11-2) went the whole game and gave up 5 earned runs on 6 hits, striking out 9 batters but walking a total of 7. This was the second loss of the season for Mangham against the top ranked Eagles of OCS (17-2).
The Dragons were led at the plate by Billy Johnston with 4 of Mangham's 11 hits, including his 2nd home run of the year to tie the game in the top of the fifth. Williams hit his 5th home run of the year to open the scoring in the top of the first and added two singles.
Mangham had runners in scoring position in the sixth and seventh inning but failed to get the hit to take the lead. Two double plays by OCS thwarted scoring opportunities on the final three innings. |
