Franklin Parish High School's Lady Patriots stomped Mangham's Lady Dragons, 10-1, on April 3 with Kristyn Newman giving up only three hits.

Sarah Mullins took the loss for Mangham.

"Our girls played a pretty good game. Hopefully we can carry the positive things about their game into Tuesday's game with Bastrop," said coach Brian Gunter.

Mary Kate Guimbellot hit three singles and made one run; Samantha Newsom made two doubles, a single, one run and hit two RBIs; Mary-Kate Parker brought in one run and hit two singles; Newman made a single and two runs; Montana Moroni also hit a single and made two runs; Kirstie Pierce hit a single, double, two RBIs and made one run; and Kimberly Reynolds hit two singles and two RBIs and made one run.

In JV play, the Lady Patriots shut out the junior Lady Dragons, 7-0, with Autumn Acree on the mound. Sara Elliot hit a single and made two runs; Lynndsey Griffith had one single and one run; and Kortnie Kelly hit a single.

Lady Patriots mark loss to Bastrop

The Lady Patriots fell 8-1 to the visitors from Bastrop in action on March 31. Kristyn Newman gave up 11 hits and there were four errors.

"We needed to win this game to cinch third place in district and get a spot in the playoffs," said coach Gunter. "Bastrop came out aggressively and we were not able to match them."

Kortnie Kelly hit two doubles, a single and one RBI while Mary Kate Parker got a single.

In JV action, the junior Lady Patriots won, 4-2 with Lynndsey Griffith claiming the win. Samantha Newsome hit two singles and both Newman and Stephanie Beach brought in singles.
