Posted 4/8/08 Dorothy L. Chase Funeral services for Major Dorothy L. Chase (U. S. Army Retired), 87, of Chase, were held Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church in Gilbert, with Rev. Frances Guy and Rev. Bill Foster officiating. Burial followed in Chase Cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Ms Chase was born to the union of her parents Knapp and Dora Townsend Chase on Sept. 6, 1920 in Chase, and passed from this life on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at her residence. Ms Chase was a life long member of Gilbert First United Methodist Church. She was a veteran of WWII and the Korean conflict. She is preceded in death by her parents; and one sister: Laurine Rountree. She is survived by two sisters: Pauline Wiggers and Neely Roach both of Chase; and nieces and nephews. Curtis Lee Doyle Funeral services for Curtis Lee Doyle, 63, of Winnsboro were held Friday, April 4, 2008 at True Light Baptist Church in Winnsboro with the Rev. John Allen officiating. Interment followed at Morning Star/Pleasant Star Cemetery in Fort Necessity, under the direction of Richardson Funeral Home, Winnsboro. Mr. Doyle passed away Monday, March 31, 2008, at Franklin Medical Center. He was a deacon at Morning Star Baptist Church and a truck driver for McMurray Trucking Company. He is survived by his wife, Madessa Doyle, Winnsboro; six children: Brittenshetta Doyle, Marcherylla Doyle, Bridgett Johnson, Shandra Armstrong and Terrence Coleman, all of Winnsboro; and Tameka Carter of Dallas, Texas; step mother, Barbara Johnson, Leesville, La.; six sisters: Linda Singleton, Debra Garner, Barbara Foster, Mataline Johnson, all of Leesville; Donna Bigger of South Carolina; Shirley West of Huntsville, Ala.; three brothers: Michael Johnson and Tony Johnson, both of Leesville; Alvin Johnson of San Antonio, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Anthony Robinson, Terrance Coleman, Johnny Cooper Jr., Percy Green, Anthony Johnson, and Kenny Thomas. Honorary pallbearers were Henry Cooper, Jermorris Green, William Chapman and Broderick Green.

Fuller, age 71, of Winnsboro, LA will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008 in the Chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro with Dr. Bill Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunflower Cemetery near Baskin under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mrs. Fuller was a homemaker and passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2008. Ralph B. Lofton Funeral services for Ralph B. Lofton, age 68, of Harrison, Ark., formerly of Winnsboro, will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008 at the chapel of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro with Rev. Jason Foster officiating. Interment will follow at Gwin Cemetery in Mangham. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. He was the son of K.P. and Lydia McLaughlin Lofton, was born December 9, 1939 in Gilbert. He has lived in the Harrison area since 1966. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Cuban Crisis from 1961-1964. He attended the Church of the Nazarene. He was also a siding installer for Judy's Insulation. He loved to play cards with friends and watch his grandchildren play sports. He loved his grandchildren deeply. His parents and one brother, K.P. Lofton, Jr., preceded him in death. Survivors are his wife, Margie Conley Lofton; son, Ralph "Frankie" Lofton; daughters, Kim Elam, Kelly Lofton, and Kristi M. Xu; brother, W.P. Lofton; sisters, Doris Gough and Yvonne Burns; eight grandchildren. Pallbearers are Don Armstrong, Ronnie Jones, Bunny McMurray, Elvin Montgomery, Marlon Valentine, and Mitchell Valentine. Alice Mingo Funeral services for Alice Mingo, 93, of Crowville will be held Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Philadelphia Baptist Church, with the Rev. M.L. McFarland officiating. Roy Cooke Jr. Funeral services for Roy Cooke Jr., 71, of Bossier City, were held at Cypress Baptist Church, Benton, La., on Monday, April 7, 2008 with Rev. Billy Pierce and Rev. Tommy Patton officiating. A second service was held at Calvary Baptist Church, Gilbert, on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 with Rev. Bobby Ensminger officiating. Interment followed at South Central Cemetery, Wisner, under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Mr. Cooke was born Feb. 2, 1937 in Fayetteville, NC and passed away Friday, April 4, 2008 at Schumpert Hospital in Shreveport. He was a resident of Bossier City, a retired salesman for Lorillard Tobacco Co., and a member of the Cypress Baptist Church, Benton. He served our country in the Air Force. Mr. Cooke loved to fish and was an avid deer hunter; he loved to make Muscadine jelly and peach preserves; above all he loved his family, church and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Stephen Cooke, mother, Lona (Pittman) Cooke; brother, William Floyd Cooke. Survivors include his wife, Louise (Martin) Cooke of Bossier City; daughter, Barbara (Cooke) Ezell and husband Wesley of Gilbert; granddaughters: Brittany Nicole Ezell, and Connie Childers and husband Bobby; grandson, Wesley Ezell Jr.; brother, Gary Stephen Cooke and wife Pamela; two sisters: Nona Carolyn Parish and husband Pete and Lona Diane Herring and husband Bobby; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Johnson was born in Winnsboro, on July 9, 1936. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and was an automobile dealer. He passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents: Malcolm and Lillie Johnson; son: Jeff "Deaux Boy" Johnson; brothers: Nevels and Royce Johnson. Survivors include his wife of 50 years: Shirley Peoples Johnson; daughter-in-law: Terry Ward Johnson; sister: Melba Johnson Jones; sisters-in-Law: Clovis Johnson, Carolyn Peoples Wright and husband, Johnny; step-granddaughter: Brandi Shurden and husband, Mitch and their children: Logan and Luke, who were the love of his life; numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
