Posted 3/26/08 Floyd Arceneaux Sr. Funeral services for Floyd Arceneaux Sr., 81, of Winnsboro, were held at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, March 22, 2008 with Rev. Paul Stephens officiating. Interment followed at Chase Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Mr. Arceneaux was born April 24, 1926 in Herbert, La., and passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Franklin Medical Center Winnsboro. He was a resident of Winnsboro, a farmer, and a member of the Chase Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laurine (Johnson) Arceneaux; father, James Elic Arceneaux; mother, Gencie Armendia (Wilson) Arceneaux; daughter, Armendia Gail (Arceneaux) O'Neal; two great-grandchildren: Shania Cheyenne Allen and Hannah Eve O'Neal; sister, Ellen Newman; and three brothers: A. A. Arceneaux, A. D. Arceneaux, and Durham Arceneaux. Survivors include: two daughters: Peggy Freeman, Winnsboro; and Carrie Sue Navarro, Cimarron, Kansas; son, Floyd Arceneaux Jr., Crowville; brother, James E. Arceneaux of St. Joseph; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jody O'Neal, Phillip Freeman, Quincy Freeman, Jeff Arceneaux, Lavelle Lenard, and Isaac Carrington. Walter 'Buddy' Denmon Graveside service for Walter "Buddy" Denmon, 67, of Winnsboro were held at Oakley Cemetery on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 with Bro. Rod Gordon and Bro. Daniel Minechew officiating under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Mr. Denmon was born Nov. 14, 1940 in Gilbert, and passed away Sunday, March 23, 2008 at Franklin Medical Center Winnsboro. He was a resident of Winnsboro and a farmer. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Denmon; mother, Goldie Marie (Wren) Denmon; three brothers: Lloyd Franklin Jack Denmon, William Jessie Denmon, and James Ado Denmon. Survivors include four children: Lora Lynn Poland of Winnsboro; Autumn Meredith of Little Rock, Ark.; Louis Denmon of Ferriday; Shelby Gene Denmon of Urania; six brothers: Roy Denmon, Johnny Denmon, Frank Denmon, George Denmon, all of Gilbert; Bobby Denmon and Richard Green Denmon both of Columbia; four sisters: Mary Ann Denmon of Columbia; Patsy Lee of Baskin; Faye Polk of Wisner; Jessie Belle Martin of Winnsboro; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Leonard Foy Sr. Funeral services for Leonard Foy Sr., 76, of Winnsboro will be held Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Winnsboro Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Herman E. Harris officiating. Burial will be at State Cemetery in Gilbert, under the direction of Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Foy, a warehouse worker, died Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Glenwood Medical Center in West Monroe. The wake will be Friday, March 28, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at the church.
LaNeisha Neal Funeral services for LaNeisha Neal, 29, of Buna, Texas were held Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Newlight Baptist Church with Rev. E. Robinson officiating. Burial followed at Hope Estate Cemetery in Wisner under the direction of Richardson Funeral Home, Winnsboro. Miss Neal, a restaurant clerk, died Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Herman Memorial Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. She was survived by her husband, Chris Johnson, Buna, Texas; son, Christopher Johnson Jr.; daughter, Keandronique James, both of Buna; father, Henry W. Williams, Wisner; mother, Sandra Neal, Buna; sisters: LaShunda Williams and Yolanda Plater; brothers: Telly Neal and Jake Neal Jr.; maternal grandparents Jake and Delphia Neal; paternal grandmother, Theodisa Boatner, all of Wisner.
Michael Lynn Mathews Sr. Funeral services for Michael Lynn Mathews Sr., 39, of Crowville, were held at Wayside Pentecostal Church on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at with Rev. Tommy Cotten and Rev. Norris Poole officiating. Interment followed at Harris Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Mr. Mathews was born July 21, 1968 in Monroe, and passed away Thursday, March 20, 2008 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. He was a resident of Crowville, a farmer, and a member of the Wayside Pentecostal Church. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Blanche Mathews, and maternal grandparents Virgil and Lucy Dunn. Survivors include: wife of 16 years Kathy Mathews; two sons Michael Mathews Jr., Joshua Mathews; and one daughter Leanne Toney all of Crowville; parents: Nell and Larry Mathews of Crowville; two brothers: David Mathews and wife Rita of Crowville, and Gary Mathews and wife Candy of Delhi; grandfather, John D. Mathews of Crowville. He was also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Pallbearers were Joe Erwin, Gary Mathews, David Mathews, Robbie Bordelon, Joshua Mathews, Michael Mathews, Jr., Eddie Banks, and Roger Banks. Honorary Pallbearers were Lloyd Dunn and Ronnie Dunn. Irene Smith Wiggins Funeral services for Irene Smith Wiggins, 85, of Winnsboro, were held at Beouf River Baptist Church on Thursday, March 20, 2008 with Rev. Bobby Brown and Dr. Max Lee officiating. Interment followed at Ogden Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Mrs. Wiggins was born July 9, 1922 in Winnsboro, and passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro. She was a resident of Liddieville, a caregiver, and a member of the Boeuf River Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fletcher Wiggins Sr.; grandson, Gregory Patten; granddaughter, Andrea Yocum; great-grandson, Michael James Kanehl; mother, Lillie Modena (Ingram) Smith; father, Thomas Leonard Smith; brothers: A.E. Smith, Sr., James Paul Smith, Luther Porter, Mac David Porter, Otiis Porter, Joseph Porter; sisters: Meddie Smith Davis and Juanita Smith Lovell. Janet Thompson Norwood Cavallaro Janet Cavallaro, formerly Janet Thompson Norwood of Winnsboro, passed away on March 13, 2008 in Lafayette, LA. Mrs. Cavallaro was born Oct. 4, 1939 in Westlake, La. She spent more than 20 years as a nurse until she became disabled in 2002. She began her career in nursing while working at Franklin Parish Hospital for several years. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Cavallaro of Carencro, La.; daughter-in-law, Gemelia Welch of Sterlington, LA; two sons, Jimmy Welch of Jena, LA, Tommy Miller of Monroe; and one daughter, Laura Lynn Miller of Carencro, La. She had six grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Green and Myrtle Thompson; one son, James Daniel Welch Jr.; one granddaughter, Brittanie Welch. Mamie L. Thomas Funeral services for Mamie L. Thomas, 89, of Winnsboro will be held Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness. Burial will be at Morning Star Cemetery in Fort Necessity, under the direction of Richardson Funeral Home, Winnsboro. Mrs. Thomas, a homemaker, died Sunday, March 23, 2008 at her home. Survivors include sons: John D. Blackson and Sherman Johnson, both of Winnsboro; daughters: Vera Bullard, Kingland, Ga.; and Dorothy England, Winnsboro; 17 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.
