Posted 3/11/08 Mary Bingham Funeral services for Mary Bingham, 86, of Wisner were held Saturday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Wisner, with the Rev. Amos Heckard officiating. Burial followed in Hope Estate Cemetery in Wisner under the direction of Richardson and Sims Funeral Home, Winnsboro. Mrs. Bingham died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008 at Franklin Medical Center. Survivors include two sons: Ernest Bingham Jr. and Eugene Bingham; two brothers: S.H. Jones and William Jones; three sisters: Lucy Jones, Ethel Jones and Rosie Jones; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Era V. Caldwell Funeral services for Era V. Caldwell, 89, formerly of Crowville were held Tuesday at Bethany Full Gospel Church, Crowville, with Brother Ron Charrier officiating. Mrs. Caldwell was a prayer warrior for God. Everything she did, evolved around prayer. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. "Buck" Caldwell ; son, James E. Mr. Hicks was born to the union of his parents LeRoy and Lillian Jemkins Hicks on Feb. 17, 1959 in Winnsboro, and passed from this life on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 in Ft. Smith. He is preceded in death by his mother: Lillian and Gidd Temple; grandparents: Silas and Mildred Jemkins. Gerald 'V.J.' Jones Funeral services for Gerald "V.J." Jones, 69, of Gilbert, were held at Jigger Apostolic Church on Friday, March 7, 2008 with Bro. Hurby Hitt and Rev. Larry Reed officiating. Interment followed at Providence Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Mr. Jones was born July 4, 1938 in Stratford, Calif., and passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at LSUMC-Shreveport. He was a resident of Gilbert, an iron worker and farmer, and a member of the Jigger Apostolic Church. He served in the Navy. He was preceded in death by his father, Harvis David Jones; and brother, David Jones. Survivors include his wife, Eunice Ann Jones of Gilbert; two sons: Donnie Jones Jr. of Gilbert, and Rusty Jones and wife Colinda of Winnsboro; two daughters: Tessie James and husband Tim of Jayess, Miss., and Rene' McMurray and husband Kevin of Gilbert; his mother, Ruth Jones Fletcher, Wisner; three brothers: Ike Jones of Jigger; Edward Jones of West Monroe; Milton Jones of Milton, Ga.; two sisters: Pauline Roberts of Wisner; and Jeanette Haynes of Springhill, La. Doris Brown Wilson Mewborn Services for Doris Brown Wilson Mewborn, age 76, of Columbia were held Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008 from the First Baptist Church in Columbia with Rev. Eric Harriman officiating. Interment followed in the Ogden Cemetery in Liddeville. Mrs. Mewborn was born on May 12, 1931 in Rayville to the union of James Thomas and Frances Smith Brown and died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 at the Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Columbia. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Columbia. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands: Sam D. Wilson and Allen Mewborn. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law: David and Cindy Wilson of Hebert; her daughter and son-in-law: Anita and David Phillips; her grandchildren: Shawn Phillips, Sammy Phillips, Brad Wilson, Leeann Wilson Dunn and Lyndsay Phillips; and her great-grandchildren: Shawn Phillips and Katie Phillips. Peggy Jean Anders Miller Services for Peggy Jean Anders Miller, age 64, of Port Arthur, Texas will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church of Winnsboro with Rev. Hank Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Myrtle Memorial Cemetery in Winnsboro, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mrs. Miller was born on Dec. 27, 1943 and passed away at Christus St. Mary's Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas on Sunday, March 9, 2008. She was the daughter of Sonny and Earlene Anders of Liddieville, Louisiana, which preceded her in death. She graduated from Odessa High School in Odessa, Texas and moved back to North Louisiana, married and had two children. In 1973, she and her family traveled and lived in the Middle East, Africa, and Russia. Mrs. Miller was a talented artist, homemaker and had a passion for her flower garden. She moved to Port Arthur, Texas in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina damaged her home in Kenner, Louisiana. She spent her last days surrounded by those that loved her, sharing her love and blessings for each of us. It was a testament to her strength and faith and a beautiful gift, as she was in life, to our family. Mr. Wyles died Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday. He was born Oct. 3, 1924 in Extension, La., to the union of his parents Alvie and Amanda H. Wyles. Mr. Wyles had been a resident of Ferriday for 57 years and worked in construction for T.L. James for 25 years. He later owned and operated convenient stores in Ferriday and Clayton. He was a member of Church of Christ. Mr. Wyles loved to run his beagles, which he also breeded. Mr. Wyles was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Genevieve J.
