Mary Bingham
Funeral services for Mary Bingham, 86, of Wisner were held Saturday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Wisner, with the Rev. Amos Heckard officiating.
Burial followed in Hope Estate Cemetery in Wisner under the direction of Richardson and Sims Funeral Home, Winnsboro.
Mrs. Bingham died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008 at Franklin Medical Center.
Survivors include two sons: Ernest Bingham Jr. and Eugene Bingham; two brothers: S.H. Jones and William Jones; three sisters: Lucy Jones, Ethel Jones and Rosie Jones; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Phil Brass, Darrell Doyle, James Bingham, Joseph Browhaw, Richard Bingham, Jessie Collins and Albert Browhaw Jr.
Era V. Caldwell
Funeral services for Era V. Caldwell, 89, formerly of Crowville were held Tuesday at Bethany Full Gospel Church, Crowville, with Brother Ron Charrier officiating. Interment followed in the Crowville Masonic Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe.
Mrs. Caldwell passed away Sunday, March 9, 2008.
Mrs. Caldwell was a prayer warrior for God. Everything she did, evolved around prayer. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. "Buck" Caldwell ; son, James E. Caldwell; granddaughter, Cindy Caldwell.
Survivors include sons, Dalton "Bunk' Caldwell, Laurel, Miss., and Bobby Caldwell of Monroe; daughter, Millie Thomas of Sterlington; sister, Nola Busby of Winnsboro; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Rhodney Cook, Greg Caldwell, Dal Caldwell, Scotty Caldwell, Craig Caldwell, Ran Caldwell, and David Caldwell.

Timothy Roy Hicks
Graveside services for Timothy Roy Hicks, 49, of Ft. Smith, Ark., formerly of Winnsboro, were held Saturday, March 8, 2008 in Oakley Cemetery near Gilbert, with Rev. Paul Perry officiating. Services were under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mr. Hicks was born to the union of his parents LeRoy and Lillian Jemkins Hicks on Feb. 17, 1959 in Winnsboro, and passed from this life on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 in Ft. Smith. He is preceded in death by his mother: Lillian and Gidd Temple; grandparents: Silas and Mildred Jemkins.
Mr. Hicks is survived by two sons: William Cole Hicks and wife Kristy of Bastrop, and Kevin White of Winnsboro; his father: LeRoy Hicks of Trinity, Texas; one sister: Dena Kaye McMurray and husband Bo of Winnsboro; brother: Mark Allen Hicks and wife Margie of Ft. Smith; four grandchildren: Kyerra Hicks, Kerinna Parker, Landon Sanders and Dalton Hicks and other relatives and friends.

Gerald 'V.J.' Jones
Funeral services for Gerald "V.J." Jones, 69, of Gilbert, were held at Jigger Apostolic Church on Friday, March 7, 2008 with Bro. Hurby Hitt and Rev. Larry Reed officiating. Interment followed at Providence Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mr. Jones was born July 4, 1938 in Stratford, Calif., and passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at LSUMC-Shreveport. He was a resident of Gilbert, an iron worker and farmer, and a member of the Jigger Apostolic Church. He served in the Navy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harvis David Jones; and brother, David Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Eunice Ann Jones of Gilbert; two sons: Donnie Jones Jr. of Gilbert, and Rusty Jones and wife Colinda of Winnsboro; two daughters: Tessie James and husband Tim of Jayess, Miss., and Rene' McMurray and husband Kevin of Gilbert; his mother, Ruth Jones Fletcher, Wisner; three brothers: Ike Jones of Jigger; Edward Jones of West Monroe; Milton Jones of Milton, Ga.; two sisters: Pauline Roberts of Wisner; and Jeanette Haynes of Springhill, La.
He was also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Darold Parker, Cam Hitt, Sammy Nobles, Danny Roberts, Louis Jones, Mike Jones, Jamie Jones, and Todd Roberts. Honorary pallbearers were Ray McDonald and Danny Williams.

Robert L. Leslie
Funeral services for Robert L. Leslie, 70, of Winnsboro, will be held at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home on (today) Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 10 a.m. with Rev. John Albright, Rev. Howard Childs, and Rev. Paul Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mr. Leslie was born Aug. 3, 1937 and passed away Monday, March 10, 2008 at Franklin Medical Center Winnsboro. He was a resident of Winnsboro, a self employed carpenter, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Winnsboro. He served in the Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Pierce Leslie; father-Carlie Wright; mother-Maude Wright.
Survivors include two sons: Christopher Lee Leslie and Carey Lynn Leslie both of Crowville; uncle, Bill Lanston and wife Evelyn of Kilborne;
Cameron Rushing of Crowville, who he considered a grandson;
three dogs-Daisey, Scooter, and Taco.

Doris Brown Wilson Mewborn
Services for Doris Brown Wilson Mewborn, age 76, of Columbia were held Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008 from the First Baptist Church in Columbia with Rev. Eric Harriman officiating. Interment followed in the Ogden Cemetery in Liddeville.
Mrs. Mewborn was born on May 12, 1931 in Rayville to the union of James Thomas and Frances Smith Brown and died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 at the Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Columbia.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Columbia. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands: Sam D. Wilson and Allen Mewborn.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law: David and Cindy Wilson of Hebert; her daughter and son-in-law: Anita and David Phillips; her grandchildren: Shawn Phillips, Sammy Phillips, Brad Wilson, Leeann Wilson Dunn and Lyndsay Phillips; and her great-grandchildren: Shawn Phillips and Katie Phillips.
Pallbearers were Brad Wilson, Shawn Phillips, Sammy Phillips, Brandon Dunn, James Talbert and Kim Wilson.
Peggy Jean Anders Miller
Services for Peggy Jean Anders Miller, age 64, of Port Arthur, Texas will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church of Winnsboro with Rev. Hank Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Myrtle Memorial Cemetery in Winnsboro, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro.
Mrs. Miller was born on Dec. 27, 1943 and passed away at Christus St. Mary's Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas on Sunday, March 9, 2008. She was the daughter of Sonny and Earlene Anders of Liddieville, Louisiana, which preceded her in death. She graduated from Odessa High School in Odessa, Texas and moved back to North Louisiana, married and had two children. In 1973, she and her family traveled and lived in the Middle East, Africa, and Russia. Mrs. Miller was a talented artist, homemaker and had a passion for her flower garden. She moved to Port Arthur, Texas in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina damaged her home in Kenner, Louisiana. She spent her last days surrounded by those that loved her, sharing her love and blessings for each of us. It was a testament to her strength and faith and a beautiful gift, as she was in life, to our family.
Survivors include her son: Michael Wayne Miller of Baskin; daughter: Elizabeth Miller Schroeder and husband Wayne of Port Arthur, Texas; brothers: Jerry Anders and wife Carolyn of Denham Springs, Louisiana; William Anders and wife, Linda of Liddieville; grandson: Zachary Michael Miller of Baskin; granddaughter: Sarah Elizabeth Miller of Port Arthur, Texas; nieces: Melissa M. Swope of Austin, Texas; Diana Doucet and husband, Daniel of Houston, Texas; nephews: John Miller and wife, Laura of Tomball, Texas; Gerald Anders of Denham Springs, Louisiana; Jay Anders and wife, Shaunda of Amarillo, Texas; Wes Anders and wife, Sandy of Wellington, Texas; Jeff Anders of Denham Springs; sister-in-Law: Betty Miller of Tomball, Texas; brother-in-Law: Robert Miller.

Bettye Morgan Talbert
Funeral services for Bettye Morgan Talbert, age 77, of Denham Springs, formerly of Wisner, were held Monday, March 3, 2008 from the chapel of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro with Rev. Jason Foster officiating. Interment followed at Providence Memorial Cemetery in Winnsboro.
Mrs. Talbert was born Nov. 18, 1930 to Arleigh and Sarah Caldwell Morgan in Natchez, Miss., and she passed from this life on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008 at her residence.
She loved to travel, loved kids, and loved to work in the garden. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: James S. Talbert; two brothers: Richard and Tommy Morgan.
She is survived by two daughters: Sandy Talbert Teal and husband John of Baton Rouge; Darlene Talbert Perez and husband Guy of Denham Springs; six brothers: Robert Morgan and wife Evelyn of Baton Rouge; Edward Morgan and wife Doris of Baker, LA; Glen Morgan and wife Nelda of Monroe; Jerry Morgan and wife Marlyn Ann of Walker, LA; Phillip Morgan and wife Nihla of Dutchtown, LA; Bruce Morgan of Jackson, Miss.; one sister: Peggy McManus and husband Lonnie of Winnsboro; five grandchildren: Beth Erkelens and husband Randall, and their children Brett and Will of Aurora, Colo.; Brad Teal and wife Ashly, and step-daughter Ashlyn Allen of Baton Rouge; Brooke Teal of Baton Rouge; Kellye Stepp of Baton Rouge; Hunter Perez of Denham Springs; Megan Todd of Walker; and her beloved dog, George.

Louise Walters Wright
Funeral services for Louise Walters Wright, 92, of Crowville, were held Sunday, March 9, 2008 at the Crowville United Methodist Church under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro, with Rev. Chris Thomas and Rev. Marcelle Crow officiating. Interment followed at Crowvillle Masonic Cemetery.
Mrs. Wright was born on Jan. 8, 1916 in Winnsboro to Percy and Asha Donnell Walters and she passed from this life on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at St. Francis North Hospital in Monroe.
She was a member of the Crowville United Methodist Church. She loved quilting, crocheting, flowers and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband: John Marshall Wright Sr.; daughter: Bobbie Jean Vickers; two brothers: Joe Walters, Sr. and Percy Eugene Walters, Jr.; two sisters: Grace Walters and Mary Lois Walters.
She is survived by one son: John Wright, Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Sterlington; one daughter: Carol Doherty of Monroe; one brother: Elbert Walters of Fort Woth, Texas; one sister: Ruby Bradley of Delhi; five grandchildren: Drew Vickers, Vicki Calhoun, Terri Coleman, Kelley Doherty, and Erin Doherty; two great-grandchildren: Damion Calhoun and his daughter Hailey, and Spencer Vickers.
Pallbearers will be nephews.

Leon Butler Wyles Sr.
Funeral services for Leon Butler Wyles Sr., 83, of Ferriday were held Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Comer Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday, with Rev. Hershel Clanton and Donald Money officiating.
Interment followed at Oakley Cemetery near Gilbert, under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.
Mr. Wyles died Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday. He was born Oct. 3, 1924 in Extension, La., to the union of his parents Alvie and Amanda H. Wyles. Mr. Wyles had been a resident of Ferriday for 57 years and worked in construction for T.L. James for 25 years. He later owned and operated convenient stores in Ferriday and Clayton. He was a member of Church of Christ. Mr. Wyles loved to run his beagles, which he also breeded.
Mr. Wyles was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Genevieve J. Wyles; his son, Glen Allen Wyles; daughter, Delores Wyles; two brothers B.D. Wyles and Herman Lee Wyles Sr.
Survivors include two sons: Leon B. Wyles Jr. and wife, Loretta, Vidalia; David C. Wyles and wife Aline, Denham Springs; four daughters: Janice McManus and husband, Jerry, Mandeville; Gwen Ensminger and husband Morgan;, McNeil, Ark.; Mae Blaney and husband Kenny, Clayton; Ann Ostrom and husband Randy, Baton Rouge; one sister, Mary Belle Gardner, Freeport, Texas; 22 grandchildren: Debra F.
