Patriot tennis continues solid play in three matches By DAVID FOLSE The Sun
It was another solid week for the Franklin Parish tennis teams as they took on Rayville, Ouachita Parish and Neville in three matches. Against Rayville, the boys and girls squads both took home victories. In doubles action J.P. Lewis and Luke Phillips won their match, 8-0, Corey Wright and Michael Young won their match, 8-1, Norman Elrod and Daniel Raley won their match, 8-0 and Andy Armstrong and Corey Wright took home their doubles match by an 8-3 score. On the ladies side, Erin Hoffpauir and Lindsey Wasd won their doubles match, 8-3, Kelsey Fletcher and Blake Oliver won their match by an 8-4 score, Megan Reese and Payton Dement took home an 8-4 victory and Mary Ogden and Krystal Capdin were defeated, 8-1. The boys tennis team was defeated by Ouachita Parish last Wednesday as Norman Elrod and Daniel Raley lost their doubles match 6-1, Andy Armstrong and Dylan Williams lost their doubles match, 6-4 and Derek Williams and Clayton Ferrington were defeated 6-3. Luke Phillips and J.P. Lewis along with Michael Young and Corey Wright picked up wins for FPHS, 6-6 (7-4) and 6-3 respectively. It was the same result for the Lady Patriot tennis team as the Lady Lions defeated them in all seven matches, 6-1, 6-1 in singles and 6-0, 6-4, 6-1, 6-1, 6-2 in doubles. Against Neville, Derek Newman was defeated in his singles match 8-0, Clayton Ferrington was defeated 7-0 and Luke Phillips was defeated 8-2. In doubles action Michael Young and Corey Wright won their match 8-3 and Daniel Raley and Norman Elrod took home their doubles match by an 8-3 score. For the ladies, Lindsey Ward and Cornitha Blanson were defeated in singles action 8-2 and 8-0 and on the doubles side Kelsey Fletcher and Blake Oliver, Megan Reese and Krystal Cardoin and Mary Ogden and Payton Dement were beaten by the Tigers by 8-0, 8-2, and 8-1 scores to finish out the match and give the Lady Tigers the victory over Franklin Parish High School. |
