'Shrunken Heads' dinner theatre
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Rehearsals for the upcoming dinner theatre production of "Shrunken Heads" are underway at the Princess Theatre. The performances and dinner are set for March 13 - 17 in the Princess Room.

The play is the story of Dr. Bob Hyde, a successful psychiatrist, who just wants to have a quiet, peaceful weekend at his country estate with his wife, Polly, where he can commune with nature and relax, far away from his patients. No such luck. In burst an assortment of crazed, eccentric characters, from one of his neurotic patients, Dorothy, to his daughter, Caroline, who has dropped out of seventh college to "go find herself" with new boyfriend Car, to his ex-wife, Jennifer, a master of facetious wise-cracks and adept at draining Dr. Bob of alimony money. When Dorothy's husband, Norman (who thinks his wife is having an affair with the good doctor) shows up with a gun, mayhem ensues.

The cast includes Leigh Jonson as ex-wife Jennifer, Nelda Emfinger as the doctor's neurotic patient, Dorothy, Judy Long in the part of wife Polly and Clark McCain as Norman, the jealous husband. Rounding out the cast are Shelby Kiper as daughter Caroline, Luke Phillips as boyfriend Car and Gene Thompson as Dr. Hyde.

Tickets are by series membership or $25 to the general public. This includes a wonderful dinner prepared by Winnsboro's own Scott Knight, followed by the production. Show times are 6:00 p.m. except on Sunday, March 16 which will be a 1:00 matinee. For more information contact the Princess Theatre at 318-435-6299 or email at princesstheatre@bellsouth.net.

Programs of the Princess Theatre are supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council as administered by The Northeast Louisiana Arts Council.
