Shooters arrested Monday

Two men are behind bars following a late-night drive-by shooting Monday night in the town of Wisner.

Franklin Parish Sheriff's deputies arrested Benjamin Braun, 19, of Wisner, and Jebediah Griggs, 30, of Columbia after the suspects allegedly fired a shotgun from their car, according to chief deputy Kevin Cobb.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Holland Drive in Wisner at 10:22 p.m., after numerous witnesses reported the incident.

Using descriptions of the car, Cobb said the two individuals were arrested at the intersection of Texas Street and Highway 15 in Wisner.

Cobb said the assailants appeared to be trying to scare a group of people gathered outside a Holland Drive residence.

"There no injuries reported," Cobb said. "They were shooting up in the air."

Griggs was charged with assault by drive-by shooting. Braun was charged with aggravated assault, assault by drive-by, and second-offense DWI.

The men were booked into Franklin Parish Detention Center following their arrest.

Cobb said investigators were still attempting to determine the motive behind the shooting.
