The Jones Boys headlining at The Franklin Opry

The Franklin Opry returns to Princess Theatre this Saturday, Feb. 16, for what executive director Gene Thompson said will be one of the best yet.
"I think Gene King, the music organizer for the Opry, has put together a great event," said Thompson. "We're in our third year and it just seems to get better and more popular as the months go by."

Featured this month are The Jones Boys out of Denham Springs. Known for their great vocals and exciting performances, Mickey and Jack Jones have also had success with song writing. Toby Keith recorded one of their songs on his "How Do You Like Me Now" CD. Gene King, leader and guitar player for The Gene King Band, said they are simply amazing.
"They are truly one of the most talented acts we've had at The Opry," said King. This month's lineup also includes Winnsboro's own Laney Wilson. Laney has performed at many events around the area as well as The Franklin Opry. "She really knows how to please the crowd," said King. Rounding out the evening will be Candy Massey, also from Winnsboro. Candy has been on The Opry before and has also performed on stage for the Princess production of "My Fair Lady." Also on tap will be the Opry regulars including Jimmie Commeaux as well as The Franklin Opry emcee, K-104 radio personality Carl Bamburg.

Featured in The Gene King Band are leader Gene King on lead guitar and vocals, Jesse Middleton on rhythm guitar and vocals, Mike Estep on bass and vocals, Holly Yarborough on fiddle, Nicky Ezell on steel guitar and Mark McClanahan on drums.

Tickets are available the night of the show with prices at $10 for ages 13 and up and $3 for ages 12 and under. Popcorn and soft drinks are available at the concession area. Box office opens at 6:15 pm and the show starts at 7:00 pm. For more information contact the Princess box office at 425-6299.
