Joyce Skinner Atkins
Funeral services for Joyce Skinner Atkins, 55, of Clayton were held Feb. 2, 2008 at Richardson-Sims Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. Charles Minor officiating.
Burial followed in the Ferriday Cemetery.
Mrs. Atkins died Jan. 21, 2008 in Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ferriday.
Survivors include three daughters: Joycelyn Heard, Ferriday; Erica Green, Shreveport; LaQuan Cannon, Lafayette; three sisters: Rosie Blackston, El Paso, Texas; Dottie Brown, and Dorothy Skinner-Pot, both of Ft. Washington, Md.; three brothers: Henry Skinner, Frank Skinner, and Lionell Skinner, all of Ferriday; and 14 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Joyce, Kenneth Cannon, Cyrus Green, Frank Skinner, Lionell Skinner, Robert Skinner and Henry Skinner.

Linda R. Borne
Graveside services for Linda R. Borne, age 60, of Wisner, formerly of New Orleans, were held at Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008 at the Masonic #1 Cemetery in New Orleans, under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
She was born to Floyd and Aurelia Martine Borne on Feb. 23, 1947 and passed from this life on Monday, Feb. 4, 2008. She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister: Martha Borne.
She is survived by her cousin, Dr. Vernon Baldwin of Winnsboro.

Edith Walters Cook
 Funeral services for Edith Walters Cook, 76. of Gilbert, were held Friday, Feb. 8, 2008 in Gill Chapel with Rev. Bobby Ensminger officiating. Burial followed at Eureka Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mrs. Cook was born to the union of her parents Roy and Sallie Robinson Walters on March 21, 1931 in Gilbert, and passed from this life on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008 at St. Francis North Hospital. She attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Gilbert. Her hobbies were gardening and cooking. Mrs. Cook was one of the first women to work at Rockwell International Industries. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Joseph Cook.
She is survived by six children: Fredia Kughn of Lafayette, La.; Rogers Hill of Gilbert; Ronnie Hill of Roseville, Calif.; Marilyn Hill of Gilbert; Stephen Hill of Gilbert; and Elizabeth Hill of Branson, Mo.; two brothers Frank Walters of Buford, SC and Hebert Walters of Baton Rouge;10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Micah Beach, Nathan Duck, Jeffrey Hill, Leo Miller, Shane Taunton and Joel Taunton.

Bennie Elzy
Funeral services for Bennie Elzy, 83, of Crowville will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Crowville.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery, under the direction of Funerals by McFarland, Delhi.
Wake service will be Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, from 7 to 8 p.m. at McFarland Funeral Home Chapel, Delhi.
Mr. Elzy, a plumber, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008.

Mat Heckard
Funeral services for Mat Heckard, 84, of Tucson, Ariz., were held Friday, Feb. 8, 2008 at Locust Hill Cemetery, Extension, with the Rev. Amos Heckard officiating.
Mr. Heckard, retired military, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008 at his home in Tucson.
Survivors include a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Floyd William Ezell
Funeral services for Floyd William Ezell, 88, of Gilbert, were held at Calvary Baptist Church on Friday, Feb. 8, 2008 with Rev. Bobby Ensminger officiating. Interment followed at South Central Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mr. Ezell was born July 4, 1919 in Meadville, Miss., and passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008 at Mary Anna Nursing Home, Wisner. He was a resident of Gilbert, a farmer, and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Gilbert.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Ezell; father, William Horace Ezell; mother, Katie (Stritman) Ezell; two brothers: Leo Ezell and Dewitt Ezell; sister, Gertie Guillot.
Survivors include a daughter, Elaine Chappell and husband Howard of Wisner; son, Wesley Ezell and wife Barbara of Gilbert; seven grandchildren: Mike Stephens, Keith Stephens, Jeff Stephens, Debbie Gibbs, Connie Childers, Wesley Ezell Jr., and Brittany Ezell; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
The Pallbearers were Alvie Vick, Billy Eley, Bobby Childers, Zachary Childers, Grady Stephens, and Joe Hair.

Lee Benton Collins
Funeral services for Lee Benton Collins, age 70, of Winnsboro, will be held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday), Feb. 13, 2008 at the Bethany Worship Center in Crowville with Rev. Bill Nash and Rev. Ron Charrier officiating. Interment will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery in Winnsboro.
Mr. Collins was born on Sept. 5, 1937 in Tensas Parish to Jewel Lee and Mandy Thornton Collins and passed from this life on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008 at Overton Brooks VA Hospital in Shreveport.
He was a plumber who loved his cows and chickens. He especially loved his dog Prissy. He was in the Air Force for four years. He loved working on his deer stand. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 49 years, Sandra Faye Carson Collins.
He is survived by his wife: Kathleen Grayson Collins; three sons: Michael Lee Collins and wife Donna of Crowville; Randy Collins and wife Lori of Crowville; Jeff Collins and wife Dana of Crowville; one daughter: Janet Lynne Buckley and husband Bob of Marion; one brother: Jimmy Lee Collins; one sister Francis Collins; 10 grandchildren: Amanda, Emily, Megan, Justin, Randi Lynne, Ian, Hannah, and Laura Collins, Caleb Roberson, and Joshua Buckley; and too many friends to mention.
Pallbearers will be Jarret "Buck" Buxton, Daryl Carson, S.C. Carson Jr., Barron Gill, Gary Robinson, and Chris Veuleman.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Greg Carson.

Elaine Gilmore
Funeral services for Elaine Gilmore, 62, of West Monroe were held Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, with the Rev. Mark Fenn and the Rev. Dwight Munn officiating.
Burial followed at Monroe Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gilmore died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008 at Glenwood Regional Hospital in West Monroe. She was born on May 30, 1945 in Winnsboro; attended First Baptist Church of West Monroe; and was a long-time employee of West Monroe City Hall.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Lee Franks and Selma Finley Franks; daughter, Cindy Gilmore; brother, Robert Franks; and sister, Jean Hadley Evans.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy Gilmore; son, Kevin Gilmore and wife, Courtney of Conway, Ark.; sisters: Barbara Franks, West Monroe; Elizabeth Parker, Winnsboro; brother, James Franks and wife Kay of Natchez, Miss.; granddaughter, Emily Gilmore; and a host of nieces, nephews, great- nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Nelson, Mike Allen, Jay Crain, Eddie Beard, Ougie Phillips, and Jimbo Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were Mayor Dave Norris, Doug Caldwell and Benny Chelette.
Donations in memory of Elaine can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home.

Minnie Price
Funeral services for Minnie Price, 88, of Wilson, La., were held Monday, Feb. 11 at Richardson-Sims Chapel in Winnsboro.
Burial followed in Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, La., under the direction of Richardson-Sims Funeral Home, Winnsboro.
Mrs. Price died Wednesday at Lane Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge.
Survivors include one daughter, Phoebe Cottrell, one son, John Wayne Price, both of Wilson, La.; one brother, Louis Brown, Winnsboro; two sisters: Melisa Johnson and Carrie Singleton, both of Baton Rouge; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Lelia Rivers
Funeral services for Lelia Rivers, 93, of Rayville were held Saturday at First Baptist Church, Rayville.
Burial followed in Rayville, under the direction of Richardson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rivers, a homemaker, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008 at her home in Rayville.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynette Miles, Rayville; sister, Hallie Thomas; brother, Willie Miles; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Ronald Steve Temple
Funeral services for Ronald Steve Temple, 58, of Chase, were held at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, Feb. 8, 2008 with Rev. Ron Ferrington officiating. Interment followed at Harris Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mr. Temple was born Nov. 4, 1949 in Winnsboro, and passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008 at Franklin Medical Center Winnsboro. He was a resident of Chase, iron worker, ran a lawn care service, and a member of the Magnolia Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Chester Temple.
Survivors include his daughter, Niki (Temple) Gardner; two sons: Christopher Temple and John Temple, all of Richmond, Va.; and five grandchildren
Pallbearers were James Roy Shivers, Leon Shivers, R. S. Newman, Howard Robinson, Ronnie Temple, and Roger Ulmer

Jerry Williams
Funeral services for Jerry Williams, 54, of Ferriday will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 at Richardson-Sims Funeral Home Chapel in Winnsboro. Burial will follow at the Ferriday Cemetery.
Mr. Williams, a mechanic, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008.
