Turkey banquet slated Saturday at River of Life

The National Wild Turkey Federation will hold the annual Hunting Heritage Banquet sponsored by the Macon Ridge Gobblers on Saturday, Feb. 2.

The event begins at 6 p.m. at River of Life on Hwy. 15 south of Winnsboro. There will be an early bird drawing for a gun. Dinner catered by Smoker's Paradise and the auction begins at 7 p.m.

Gobblers vice president Louis Robinson said the event is perfect for families and he invited anyone interested to attend.

"Families are welcome," Robinson said. "If you care about turkey hunting and preserving our outdoor heritage, we urge you to make every effort to attend the banquet, and bring your wife and sons and daughters."

The auctioneer will be Kent Crank. Robinson said funds raised at the auction will benefit local wildlife projects.

"A small percentage of our money is sent to the national organization, but most of the money we raise in Franklin Parish will be spent locally," Robinson said.
