Armed robbers at large The search is ongoing for four men wanted in connection with a pair of armed robberies in the town of Wisner last week.
Wisner chief of police Billy Cureington said around 6:00 a.m., Ford Food Center manager Russell Johnson stepped out the back door to smoke. At that time, three men in hoods and ski masks stepped forward and demanded to be let in.
Cureington said Johnson pointed out the back door cannot be opened from the outside.
"That's when they threw him onto the ground, held him down, and one of the assailants went around to the front door," Cureington said. "When one came back to the rear entrance and said he couldn't get in the front door, they took the money off of Mr. Johnson and went down to Big Dan's."
Cureington said officers later received a call about another armed robbery from Big Dan's, a nearby bar owned by Danny Delaughter, around 9 a.m.
"Dan was not there and the lady could not open the safe because she didn't know the combination," Cureington said.
The three men proceeded to empty out the register before getting into a car driven by a fourth man.
All told, Cureington said the men made off with more than $700 in the two robberies.
So far no arrests have been made, though Cureington said investigators had interviewed several individuals in relation to the case.
The Franklin Parish Sheriff's Office has offered a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible, Cureington said. |
