William E. Chisholm
Funeral services for William E. Chisholm, 77, of Gulf Shores, Ala., were held Monday, Jan. 21, 2008 at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley, Ala. with Bro. Earl Lee officiating. Interment followed in Pine Rest Memorial Park.
Mr. Chisholm passed away on Friday, Jan. 18, 2008 at his home. He will be remembered in the Louisiana banking industry as his career covered over 41 years in the parishes of Franklin, Richland and Concordia, and was also a bank examiner with the FDIC for four of those years. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Gulf Shores and served on the Counting Committee until his illness. He served in the National Guard for nine years.
Mr. Chisholm was preceded in death by his father William R. Chisholm and his mother Blanche Burnum Chisholm.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Goodman; a son, William Christopher Chisholm, Kingwood, Texas; daughter, Luanne C. Farmer, Gulf Shores; one granddaughter and one grandson.

Joe 'Buck' Ginn
Funeral services for Joe "Buck" Ginn, 97, of Vidalia were held Thursday at Truimph Baptist Church in Vidalia. Burial followed at New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Peck, under the direction of Richardson and Sims Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Funeral services for Mattie Juanita Halbrook, 83, of Gilbert, were held at Mangham Assembly of God on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 with Rev. Jerry Moore and Rev. Ron Ferrington officiating. Interment followed at Providence Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mrs. Halbrook was born Sept. 29, 1924 in Fort Necessity, and passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. She was a resident of Gilbert, a homemaker, and a member of the Mangham Assembly of God. She was a caring wife and mother who enjoyed quilting for friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Hawthorne; mother, Clara Evon (Weatherly) Hawthorne; three daughters: Mattie Louise, Rita Diane, and Margie Sue; son-in-law, Bud George; granddaughter-Krista George.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Lavern H. Halbrook of Gilbert; two daughters: Betty (Halbrook) Rolen of Gilbert; Nita (Halbrook) Weatherly of Mangham; seven sisters: Eva Sikes, Jessie Vee Townsend, Willie Lea Peoples, Joyce Heath, all of Winnsboro; Doris Sebold of Wisner; of Winnsboro, LA; Martha Yeates and Daisy Helen Davis, both of Chase; three brothers: Louis Hawthorne of Hot Springs, Ark.; James "Chubby" Hawthorne and A. J. Hawthorne, both of Bastrop;
She was also survived by six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and four garers were Ray Ladwig, David George, Stacy Head, Roger Horton, Greg Tatum, and Robert Horton.
Honorary Pallbearers were Raymond "R.J." Ladwig, Henry Ladwig, Tristan George, and Cayden George.

Carol Ann Morris
Funeral services for Carol Ann Morris, 45, of Columbia, were held at Apostolic Faith Chapel in Gilbert on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008 with the Rev. Virgil Harris officiating. Interment followed at Holly Grove Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home, Winnsboro.
Mrs. Morris was born Feb. 20, 1962 in Winnsboro, and passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008 at Golden Age Nursing Center in Jena. She was a resident of Columbia, a homemaker, and a member of the Pentecostal faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Morris; father, Pete Roberts; and sister, Kathy Roberts.
Survivors include a son, Sam Houston Morris, Hebert; mother, Dolly Kimball McKinney and step-father Thomas McKinney, both of Start; two sisters: Judy Kim Rollins, Alexandria; Jackie Bolton, Start; four brothers, Ricky Kenney, Gilbert; Mark Roberts and Michael Dale Roberts, both of Wisner; Jayme McKinney, Monroe; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jerry Rollins, Michael Bolton, Ricky Kenney, Mark Roberts, Michael Dale Roberts, and Jayme McKinney.

Raymond E. Gwin
Funeral services for Raymond E. Gwin, 58, of Baskin, were held Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at Gill Chapel with Rev. Paul Perry and Rev. Marion Collier officiating. Burial followed in Reagan cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mr. Gwin was born to the union of his parents William and Verna Sproles Gwin on Nov. 8, 1949 in Wisner, La. and passed from this life on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008 at Charlyn Nursing Home in Winnsboro. He was a life time member of the North American Hunting Club. He is preceded in death by his father: William Augusta Gwin.
Mr. Gwin is survived by his son: Robbie Gwin of Crowville; his mother Verna Lee Gwin of Baskin; two brothers: Bobby Gwin and his wife Gussie, and William Gwin and his wife Dora, all of Baskin; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were nephews: Bobo Gwin, Scott Gwin, Matt Gwin, Paul Gwin, Jason Jarrette, and Patrick Pounders.
Honorary pallbearers were Chad Blackmon, Ryan Dickey, Dustin Gwin, Brian Turbeville, Wesley Gus Gwin and Kyle Barfield.

Dixie Jones Cannon
, Sr. Whiteashingtonmmunity.com.Funeral service for Dixie Jones Cannon, 91, of Baskin were held Monday, Jan. 21, 2008 in the chapel of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro with Rev. Marion Spence and Rev. Wayne Ray officiating. Interment will follow in Coax Cemetery near Baskin.
She was born to John Rufus and Eula Lee Box Jones on Oct. 4, 1916 in Alto and passed from this life Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 in Delhi.
She was a member of Baskin Baptist Church and loved cooking, sewing and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roger W. Cannon; grandson Kevin Jackson; three brothers; and two sisters.
Mrs. Cannon is survived by two daughters; Bonnie Jackson and husband Marion, and Peggy Eaton, all of Baskin; four grandchildren Gary Jackson of Woodbridge, Va., Roger "Danny" Daniel Jackson and wife Ashley of Natchitoches, Carol Ogden and husband Bubba of Crowville; and Colby Ray and wife Kimberly of Prentiss, Miss.; and five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Robert W. Lowe, Sr.
Funeral services for Robert W. Lowe, Sr., 83, of Winnsboro, were held Monday, Jan. 21, 2008 in the First Baptist Church of Winnsboro with Rev. Max Lee, Rev. Harry Boyd, Rev. Steve Cretin, and Rev. Jimmy Eppinette officiating. Burial followed in New Winnsboro Cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mr. Lowe was born to the union of his parents Miner and Fannie Treadway Lowe on May 24, 1924 in Pollock, La. and passed from this life on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008 at his residence. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Winnsboro. He was a WWII Army Air Force Veteran, a member of the American Legion and VFW post # 3155 in Winnsboro.
Mr. Lowe served in the Clerk of Court's office in Franklin Parish for 36 years and served as president of Louisiana Clerk of Court Association. He also served as president of the Winnsboro Lion's Club. After retiring from the Clerk of Court's office he formed a business, Robert Lowe & Associates. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Edgar Lowe and two sisters: Ruby and Alma Lowe.
Robert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lanie Lowe of Winnsboro; three daughters: Ann Lowe Cretin and husband Steve of Franklin, Tenn.; Connie Lowe Hill of New Orleans; Jane Lowe Clark of Winnsboro; one son: Wes Lowe and wife Lisa of Winnsboro; one sister: Bertha Coughran of Winnsboro; grandchildren: Stephen Cretin and wife Jenny; Matt Clark and wife Gretchen; Amy Childs and husband Zac; Michael Hill; Brad Clark and wife Jamie; Dr. Brian Hill; Adam Clark; Jeremy Lowe and wife Sarah; Sara Beth Lowe and Betsy Lowe; great-grandchildren: Jacob Cretin, Mary Elizabeth Clark, Braden Clark, Madeline Clark and Avery Clark.
Pallbearers were grandsons: Adam Clark, Brad Clark, Matt Clark, Stephen Cretin, Dr. Brian Hill, Michael Hill, and Jeremy Lowe.

Diane Derouen Sikes
, Sr. Whiteashingtonmmunity.com.A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. George Sikes, the former Diane Derouen, 63, were celebrated on Friday, Jan. 18, 2008 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Serving as concelebrants were Father Mark Derise, Father Mike Guidry, and Father Salvino Primor. Serving as Deacon of the Mass was Deacon Jimmy Wilson. Musical selections being rendered by Mrs. Derouen's brother, Minos Derouen, Jr., were "Press On", "I Can Only Imagine", "I Want Jesus to Walk With Me", "How Great Thou Art", "Amazing Grace", and "Remember Me". Entombment followed in Holy Family Mausoleum.
Mrs. Sikes passed away on Monday, Jan. 14, 2008 in a New Iberia hospital.
A native of Coteau and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Sikes was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, where she served as baptism coordinator. She was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School and University of Southwestern Louisiana, and was a member of the Kappa Chapter of Beta Sigma Pi Sorority.
Mrs. Sikes was transportation manager for Cargill Company, from which she retired after 30 years of service, and had been a customer service representative at Bruce Foods for eight years.
She enjoyed her work, but her greatest joys were watching the deer at her family's Lookout Point farm near Winnsboro and caring for her children and granddaughter.
Remaining to remember Mrs. Sikes are her husband, Deacon George Sikes of New Iberia; son, John Sikes and wife, Kristie of Baton Rouge; daughter, Ashley Marie Sikes of Lafayette; granddaughter, Ella Claire Sikes of Baton Rouge; sisters, Myrtis Quinilty of Lake Charles and Hilda Devillasana and husband, Chris of River Ridge; brother, Minos J. "Joey" Derouen, Jr. of New Iberia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding Mrs. Sikes in death were her parents, Minos Joseph Derouen, Sr. and Deloria David Derouen; and a daughter, Stephanie Marie Sikes.
Serving as pallbearers were Dennis Warnke, Roger Sonnier, Gene Chauffe, Matthew Derouen, Craig Quinilty, and Nanette Dartez.

Douglas I. Holley
Memorial service for Mr. Douglas I. Holley, 64, of Winnsboro, were held at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, with Mark Powell officiating. Services were under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mr. Holley was born March 3, 1943 in Chicot, Ark. and passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008 at VA Medical Center in Alexandria. He was a resident of Winnsboro, an oil field worker, and served in the United States Navy during Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Rebecca Ann Holley; father, Eugene Douglas Holley; mother, Elizabeth (Dunn) Holley; sister, Fannie Grissom; two brothers: Edward Holley and David Holley.
Survivors include his wife, Davie Holley of Winnsboro; two sons: Marcus Holley and wife Millicent of Grayson; Bruce Holley and wife Danielle of Sicily Island; step daughter, Felicia Bordelon of Winnsboro; three brothers: Dan Holley of Winnsboro, Larry Holley of Aimwell, and Jim Holley of Herbert; three sisters: Lucille Womack of Minden, Imogene Berry of Crowville, and Betty Mason of Harrisonburg; three grandchildren: Holden Holley, Jeremiah Holley, and Hayden Holley. He was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Roosevelt Washington

Mr. Washington, a mechanic, passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008 at Franklin Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Estella Washington, Winnsboro; sons: Allen R. Washington, Monroe; Roosevelt Washington Jr., Alvin Washington, both of Winnsboro; David Lee Washington, St. Louis, Mo.; James Edward Washington, Blythe, Calif.; Gary Washington, Florence, Ariz.; daughters: Martha Bowen, Dallas, Texas; Rosie Daniels, Blythe, Calif.; Sharon Mack, Augusta, Ga.; Deborah Bell and Laura Bell, both of Winnsboro; sister, Estelle Thomas, Winnsboro; brother, Jimmy L. J. C. White
Funeral services for J.C. White, 53, of Winnsboro were held Saturday at St. John Baptist Church in Winnsboro with the Rev. Cedric Rollins officiating. Burial followed in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Winnsboro, under the direction of Richardson and Sims Funeral Home, Winnsboro.
Mr. White died Friday in Monroe.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann White, Winnsboro; seven daughters: Brenda White, Rowshell Heggens, Barbara White, Glenda Wallace, Kewantae Wallace, all of Winnsboro; Janice Heggens and Linda White, both of Winnsboro; eight sons, Charles White, Larry White, Joseph White, Andre Wallace, Albuquerque, NM; Cedric Shelby, Tallulah; Shawn Richard, Mark Heggens, and Edward White; four sisters: Pearlie Wright, Mangham; Mary Morgan and Willie Mae White, both of Chicago; Jennie Brown, Bastrop; four brothers: James Hamilton, Eddie Lee White, Lionel Bray, all of Winnsboro; and Jamie Brown, Los Angeles, Calif.
