Franklin Academy dropped a pair of district games at Woodville, Ms., on January 8.

The Cougar boys fell to WCCA, 66-52.

"We played like death rolled upside down," said Franklin Academy coach Phil Jackson. "We could not have shot the ball any worse."

Franklin shot 24 percent from the field in the contest.

"They packed it in on our big kids inside and we shot 18 percent from the perimeter," Jackson said.

The Rams jumped out to a 19-9 lead after one quarter of play, but the Cougars cut that lead to six points at halftime.

However, WCCA outscored Franklin Academy by eight points in the second half.

"They played in their own Christmas Tournament, so they had their legs under them better than we did," Jackson said.

Caleb Haring led the Cougars with 17 points while Shelby Zeaglar and Chris Goodman finished with 11 points each.

Franklin Academy's girls trailed by only six points at halftime.

But a 14-4 advantage by the Lady Rams in the third quarter gave them a 16-point lead going into the fourth quarter.

Mallory Welch led Franklin Academy with nine points.
