Cougars pop Tensas

Franklin Academy' boys improved to 2-1 in District 7A East by defeating Tensas Academy 59-34 Friday in St. Joseph.

Franklin led 15-10 after one period and 32-20 at halftime.

Darren Colllie led the Patriots with 15 points, while Shelby Ziggler had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Nick Williams added 11 points.

"We played halfway decent," said Franklin coach Phil Jackson. "We shot the ball a whole lot better than we did against WCCA."

The top four teams in the district advance to the district tournament, that will be played at Riverfield.

"We want to finish in the upper part of the district," Jackson said. "We don't want to start out against Riverfield, because that would be tough playing on their home court."

Franklin Academy's girls fell to Tensas, 56-20.

The Lady Cougars trailed 9-6 after one period before the Lady Chiefs outscored Franklin 15-3 in the second period.

Katy Little led Franklin with eight points, followed by Malorie Welch, who netted six.
