Franklin teen leads livestock parade

Samantha Tate, a 16-year-old Franklin Parish resident, will be the lead rider in the 68th Annual Northeast Louisiana Livestock Show Parade on Friday, Feb. 1 in Delhi.

Samantha and her barrel horse DD will lead the parade, an honor Samantha has had for the past three years.

Samantha is the daughter of Gerry and Hyon Ok Tate and is a sophomore at Delhi Charter School. Samantha is currently visiting Korea, where her mother's family lives.

Samantha has been riding since moving to Franklin Parish in 2003. She has studied classical stock seat riding, dressage and is the lead rider for Double A Wild West Productions.

In addition to barrel racing, she enjoys trick and trail riding.
