Mahoney resigns alderman post
Mayor Jackie Johnson and the Winnsboro Board of Aldermen are holding a meeting this week to discuss what actions the City will take next to fill the alderman seat for District 1.
Officials with the mayor's office confirmed last week Richard Mahoney submitted his letter of resignation effective as of Jan. 31, citing personal reasons as the justification for forgoing the remaining year of his term.
When asked if he had any additional information on the details of why he resigned, Mahoney responded, "no."
