No. 9 Franklin Parish (9-2) at No. 8 Vandebilt Catholic (10-1)

Time: 7 p.m. at Buddy Marcelle Stadium - Houma, La.

Last week: Franklin Parish beat Assumption, 19-14. Vandebilt Catholic topped Huntington, 38-6.

Regular season: Franklin Parish finished 8-2 overall. A 3-1 district record gave FP a second place finish in District 2-4A, the highest in school history. Vandebilt Catholic claimed the District 8-4A crown, after finishing the regular season with a record of 9-1.

Key wins: FRANKLIN PARISH - @ Bastrop (W, 23-20);@ Wossman (W, 20-12); vs. Rayville (W, 42-14); vs. Assumption (W, 19-14). VANDEBILT CATHOLIC - @ St. Charles (W, 36-32),; @ Assumption (W, 44-42); @ Huntington, (W, 38-6).

What/Who to watch: FRANKLIN PARISH - Lorenzo Smith, OLB: The senior all-state lock has had his hand in number of game-changing plays this season. Leads a defense that has accounted for 30 turnovers. Leads the Patriots with 73 tackles, 6 sacks and 4 forced fumbles; Jordan Jeter, DB: One of the most electrifying players in District 2-4A. When the junior isn't making interceptions and breaking up passes, he's punting and manning field goal duties for the Patriots. On the season the defensive back has 50.5 tackles, 9 pass break-ups, 2 forced fumbles and 4 INTs.

VANDEBILT CATHOLIC: Elijah McGuire, QB: As the state's top rusher, the speedy senior has the moves to hit a home run on any play. McGuire has accumulated 2,308 rushing yards in 11 games. Last week against Huntington, the senior rushed for 211 yards and a touchdown.

Lagniappe: VC coach Coach Brad Villavaso is in his first season back as head coach, after a ten year stint at VC from 1996-2006.
