FP kicks off Wounded Warrior Project awareness campaign this Friday The Franklin Parish Patriots football team is dedicating its 2012 football season to raising awareness about the WWP. The purpose is to bring awareness to the official website www.woundedwarriorproject.org .
Friday's contest with West Ouachita will be a special event in which the Patriots will "kick off" the awareness campaign. FPHS football formed a partnership with the LA Army National Guard to provide the football team with special uniforms for this occasion. The Patriots will don their "combat uniforms" to pay tribute to and honor those who have sacrificed so much.
Coach Barry Sebren said, "it is necessary to teach our students the responsibility to reach out to causes that are larger than our person."
School spirit groups and other clubs and organizations will also participate.
Sebren said the goal is to raise $1000 dollars to go directly to the WWP.
In addition, the football team pledges $1 dollar for each point that it scores in the 2012 season to go to the WWP.
FPHS school officials are asking for all fans to "Camo Out" for Friday's game. |
