Georgia pilot dies in crash
A retired Delta Airlines Pilot died Thursday afternoon when his kit-built aircraft crashed just off the runway at Winnsboro Municipal Airport.
Reports filed with the Federal Aviation Administration state Fairley Ray Gooch, 67, of Roswell, Ga. was piloting the experimental airplane that crashed nose first in the grassy area at the end of the runway. Gooch reportedly died on impact due to blunt force trauma.
