Top-ranked Cougars power past Briarfield
With a style reminiscent of smash-mouth Big Ten football of years past, the Franklin Academy Cougars steamrolled over Briarfield Academy, 36-8, in Lake Providence on Friday.
The Cougars' offense rushed for 270 yards and four second half touchdowns, while their defense held the Briarfield passing attack to a mere 20 yards.
Franklin Academy -- now No.1 in The Jackson Clarion-Ledger MAIS 8-Man Football Poll -- simply wore down the Rebels with its depth and physicality, as nine different Cougars contributed in the power rushing attack.
