Producers burn midnight oil to save crops As the price of soybeans reached new heights last week, Franklin Parish producers found themselves in a rat race against time to get their valuable crops out of the field.
The heavy rains projected from Tropical Storm Isaac had many farmers worried their crops would become worthless, forcing round-the-clock agricultural operations throughout the parish.
"We ran it as hard as we could, working up to three, four in the morning, up into Wednesday," local producer Ricky Campbell said.
