'Butcher' tapped to dredge river Help is on the way for the landlocked port in Lake Providence in the form of a massive cutter-head dredge.
Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, said last week the Army Corps of Engineers has obtained the services of the dredge "Butcher," in hopes of clearing the clogged channel that leads into the Mississippi River port, and ultimately prevent a possible agriculture catastrophe.
