While confirmed West Nile Virus cases have dwindled from five years ago, the infection appears to be resurfacing across Louisiana in the midst of one of the wettest summers the state has had in half a decade.

As of Monday, there were four confirmed WNV cases in humans in the state this year, but recently confirmed cases in animals prompted agricultural commissioner Mike Strain to issue an urgent statement for horse owners to have their animals vaccinated.
