Budget talks at standstill
With the monthly scheduled City Council meeting approaching Monday, the process of adopting the budget for the upcoming fiscal year is still where it was after Mayor Jackie Johnson presented the proposed allocation of city funds to the council nearly 30 days ago: At a standstill.
The Council and the mayor did not meet concerning the budget last week, after multiple emergency council and finance committee sessions the previous two weeks failed to produce a compromise to the budget that three of the five councilmen have said they cannot approve in its current form.
