Golfers raise money for shelter animals

It was a beautiful day, albeit a hot one on Saturday, when golfing enthusiasts converged on the Twin Oaks Country Club for the first-ever 'Putts for Mutts' golf tournament. "We were really pleased with the participation for our first year," said organizer Kim Kimbrough. "I think everyone had a good time and we're hoping to make this an annual event to plan earlier in the year."

The three-man scramble format included 30 participants for 18 holes of play. The team of Joey Oliver, Dalton Oliver and Blake Oliver won the championship flight with a score of 59 (-13). Joe Oliver, Lee Southern and Jim McClellan placed second shooting 62 (-10).
