Discovery makes home at Smithsonian The longest serving orbiter in the space shuttle fleet retired in high style recently, making its home at the Smithsonian's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Va.
The shuttle departed Kennedy Space Center in Florida on April 17, bolted to the top of a modified jumbo jet and landed at Washington Dulles International Airport.
