Agriculture officials said last week the nationwide trend of a dropoff in cotton acreage from last year will be seen in Louisiana this growing season.
Earlier this year, reports suggested cotton acreage would be down 17 percent nationally from 2011, unless March produced rough weathers preventing farmers from getting their corn crop in the ground on time — forcing them into other options.
