Farmers market in the hopper
The Winnsboro City Council took steps Monday to secure funding for a project Mayor Jackie Johnson has been asking city officials to pursue since his first months in office — a farmers market.
The council unanimously approved an ordinance that would give the mayor permission to submit an application to the Delta Regional Authority for a grant that would help fund the construction of what economical development director Billy Cobb called a "state of the art" farmers market in the downtown Winnsboro area.
