Cougars fall short of playoff berth

Franklin Academy's baseball team finished as the No. 4 team in MAIS Class A, but the Cougars missed the playoffs after falling to Glenbrook 5-3 on Friday.

Riverfield finished first in District 5A with a 9-2-1 mark, while Franklin Academy and Claiborne finished 9-3. Claiborne claimed the No. 2 spot by tiebreaker.

"It's disappointing, but it was still a wonderful, wonderful year," said Franklin Academy coach Chris Sullivan. "We return the nucleus of the team, which is so coachable. We competed in a tough district, but we'll be back next year."
