Lady Patriots await postseason fate With a prompt, 11-3, trashing of Bastrop last Friday, the Franklin Parish Lady Patriots capped off their district season and all but officially secured a spot in 4A playoffs when the brackets are released on Thursday by the LHSAA.
Franklin Parish (14-12, 5-3 in 2-4A) is ranked No. 23 in 4A power rankings on KenRamsey.com , with two non-district games left this week against Sterlington (22-1) and Natchitoches Central (18-5) to finish out the regular season. Despite the outcome of the two last contests the Lady Patriots are expected to be awarded with a playoff berth. . "We may not have had an overly impressive record this season, but it has been one great ride up to this point," Franklin Parish coach Richie Kelly said. "We are staying focused on the games ahead of us of course, but that doesn't mean we don't recognize that this year, despite of how we finish up, has been a historical year for Franklin Parish softball."
This season marks the first time Franklin Parish has ever finished better than .500 in 2-4A district play. It is also the first time the Lady Patriots have ever beaten West Ouachita, or beaten Bastrop on the road in district play.
