Cobb urges support for sales tax
On the election ballot for Saturday, April 21, will be a half-cent sales tax renewal that directly assists in the operations of the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Office.
Franklin Parish Sheriff Kevin Cobb sees the renewal of this tax vital to FPSO's day-to-day activities and hopes parish residents will go to the polls in support of it next month.
"This renewal is very important to our department," Cobb said. "We have a large department and we are facing the same economic problems that other agencies are having. We have prepared ourselves for these struggles which include rising healthcare and benefits costs, increased fuel costs and many other operational expenses that we have absorbed in our budget dedicated to the sheriff's office, as well as our detention center."
