Registrations continues for 5K It's only a few more weeks before runners will be manning historic downtown Winnsboro for the Franklin Parish GeauxFit Catfish Classic 5K.
The race is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 7, and will start and end at the Old Post Office Museum. If you haven't registered yet don't miss the opportunity to register by March 25 so you can guarantee your T-shirt size. Organizers say they may be able to accommodate your size after that date, but can't guarantee it.
Members of the Ouachita Valley Road Runners Club will receive a $5 discount on registration.
Race day registration will be available.
Medals will be awarded for the top three men and women's times in 5-year age groups and cash prizes will be presented to overall male and female winners, and overall male and female master winners (45 +). There will also be a drawing for cash door prizes which anyone who enters the race can win.
"We will have the standard after race fare of bananas and water, but this year the Franklin Parish Catfish Festival will be frying some catfish nuggets for everyone after the race," event organizer Barry Stevens said. "All the racers will get a sneak preview of the always excellent fried catfish that will be available the following weekend at the 26th Annual Franklin Parish Catfish Festival."
The money generated by the race will be used to fund a scholarship at the Winnsboro-Franklin Chamber of Commerce Academic Achievement Banquet.
Entry forms are available at GeauxFit Fitness Center, Winnsboro Sports and local banks. Runners can also register online by searching for "GeauxFit Catfish Classic" at www.active.com |
