FA tennis top Tensas Academy
The Franklin Academy tennis team kicked off the 2012 season with a win over Tensas Academy last week.
The Cougars notched wins in four of the six events at a "doubles only" tournament that was held at Lake Bruin Country Club last Thursday. One match will be finished a later date, as poor lighting forced the team of Hillary herron and Mason Fenn to cut their match short.
In first round action, court one saw the FA doubles team of Brittany Whittington and Nikki Erwin split sets, only to lose the tie break, 10-6, to Tensas Academy's Malori Lansing and Melanie Netterville. FA's Bjoern Schwedes and Russ Wiggers lost in two sets on court two, 6-3, 6-2, to Rush Capdepon and Farrell Keahey.
