Cougars eliminated after loss to WCCA The lights-out shooting of Wilkinson County Christian Academy proved to be too much for Franklin Academy last week, as WCCA topped the Cougars, 75-54, at the MAIS Class A South State Tournament at Claiborne Academy.
The Cougars, who were eliminated from postseason by the loss, finish the season with a 16-10 overall record. Led by Dre' Tolliver's 12 first-period points, WCCA started the second period with a 28-9 lead. Despite better play from Franklin Academy from that point on, WCCA never relinquished their firm grip on the contest.
"It wasn't one of our best nights, and they jumped all over us from the beginning," Franklin Academy coach Paul Work said. "They were just shooting lights out early. We played them pretty evenly the rest of the game, but the damage was done."
